Asma Khoory

Biography

Asma Khoory born in Dubai in 1994. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Arts with a minor in Curatorial Practices from Zayed University in 2017. She furthered her education by taking Exhibition Design and Contemporary Art Practice courses at the University of Arts in London and was part of the fifth cohort of The Salama Bint Hamdan Emerging Artist Fellowship in partnership with the Rhode Island School of Design.

Khoory’s work has been exhibited both locally and internationally. She had a solo exhibition in Amsterdam at Nieuw Dakota in 2018, and in Dubai at Alserkal Avenue in 2016. She also exhibited her work at Meem Gallery, Warehouse 421, Dubai Design District, Jameel Arts Center, and Southeast Missouri State University as part of a print exchange.

Asma’s artistic practice revolves around themes of manufactured time, human relations and conversations, social ideologies, and collective memory. She works with representative materials that carry content and portray her thoughts into what she makes. Her art emphasizes subjects that are triggered by emotions and can be seized by everyone.
