H.E. Huda I. Alkhamis-Kanoo, Founder of ADMAF and Artistic Director of the Abu Dhabi Festival, jointly signed a historic Letter of Cooperation (LoC) with Stéphane Lissner, Director of Paris Opera in the presence of Aurélie Dupont, Director of Dance and H.E. Ali Abdallah Al Ahmed, UAE ambassador to France at the magnificent Palais Garnier in Paris.
This international strategic partnership is the first of its kind for Opéra national de Paris and also a first with an Arab cultural organisation, which will enhance the international cultural achievement and presence of Abu Dhabi and the UAE, by enabling both institutions to share experiences, identify and develop knowledge and broaden expertise.
A stirring, inspirational talk by H.E. Huda I. Alkhamis-Kanoo at the International Music Council’s 6th World Forum on Music, in Paris. Her Excellency spoke about “The right for all musical artists to develop their artistry and communicate through all media, with proper facilities at their disposal,” as part of the Forum’s theme: “Give Me Five: The Five Music Rights in Action”.

H.E. Huda I. Alkhamis-Kanoo, Founder of ADMAF and Artistic Director of the Abu Dhabi Festival, and Peter Wheeler, CEO, Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi, signed a Letter of Cooperation during the Abu Dhabi Festival 2019 Press Conference.
This year the Festival’s central theme is the ‘Culture of Determination’, as it joins forces with the Special Olympics World Games that are also taking place in the UAE capital during the month of March. Both parties seek to identify opportunities to enhance the strategic value of individual exchange projects between ADMAF and the Special Olympics, by promoting artistic co-operation and collaboration leading to joint commissions, artistic creations and presentations.
ADMAF showcased a selection of artworks by Emirati and UAE-based artists reflecting the core values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan at Abu Dhabi Art. The pavilion was centred around Zayed: The Soft Power and commemorated five of the core values that honour the Founding Father’s legacy: Wisdom and Peace, Tolerance and Respect, Sustainability and Environment, Human Development and Knowledge, and Unity.
The ADMAF Pavilion featured artworks by Abdelghani Al Nahawi, Ebtisam Abdulaziz, Dr. Ahmed Al Faresi, Nayef AlBalooshi, Maha Ali Abdullah, Hussain AlMoosawi, Patricia Millns and Ranim Orouk, resulting from an open call where artists across the UAE were invited to submit works they felt fitted the chosen theme. The pavilion also allowed art lovers, artists and collectors the opportunity to network through an engaging and in-depth programme of events, tailored to suit all ages.
Ewa’a Shelters featured in strategic collaboration with the ADMAF Pavilion at Abu Dhabi Art 2018. The artwork, created by artist Jennifer Simon, highlights the ambitious vision of Ewa’a Shelters in enhancing its pioneering role in the field of caring for, and rehabilitating, victims of human trafficking.
Founder of ADMAF, H.E. Huda I. Alkhamis-Kanoo, visited The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and met with its president, Deborah F. Rutter. Also in attendance was Timothy O’Leary, General Director, WNO, and Gary Gintsling, Executive Director, NSO, as they discussed future projects of mutual interest.
On November 7, 2018, H.E. Huda I. Alkhamis-Kanoo, Founder of ADMAF, was awarded the esteemed Middle East Institute Visionary Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership in empowering artists and communities across the Arab world, and bringing Arab culture to a global audience. The award was bestowed upon Her Excellency in a special ceremony hosted yesterday at the Institute’s 72nd Annual Awards Banquet and Conference at Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel Washington, D.C.
The Middle East Institute Visionary Award recognises an Arab individual or institution for outstanding work in the region. Awarded for her dedication to the art and culture industry in the Middle East, inspiring artists to create, generations to innovate, and communities to unite and prosper, Huda I. Al-Khamis Kanoo was presented the award by Alicia Adams, Vice President of International Programming at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Also in attendance was Dr. Paul Salem, President of the Middle East Institute, along with hundreds of top officials, analysts, and business leaders representing a diverse cross-section of the Middle East-focused community.
Upon receiving the award, H.E. Huda I. Alkhamis-Kanoo said: “We live in uncertain, troubling times in the Arab World, and the role of the Middle East Institute is more relevant and vital now than ever, in its efforts to shine a light on the region, helping the US and the world at large to understand more about us and our culture. So it is personally a great honour to be presented with the 2018 Visionary Award.”
